athemi GmbH

athemi answers the question that bites later: what exactly did we agree? Customer and supplier work in one shared project room instead of two mailboxes.

What athemi does

athemi is a platform for exchanging business documents directly between companies. Instead of sending quotes, variations, paperwork and invoices back and forth between two mailboxes, a shared project room takes their place: both sides see the same state, and everything belonging to the job sits together automatically — quote, correspondence, documents, invoice.

Archiving is central and searchable, signing is electronic, and the platform synchronises bidirectionally with eleven ERP systems — contacts, quotes, invoices. Anyone without an ERP can use athemi on its own. It is operated in Switzerland.

What is special about it

The signed quote is treated as the moment everything is settled. In practice it is usually just an interim state. What follows is versions, details, extra paperwork, photographs, timesheets — in loose blocks over mail, phone and text. That holds for construction as much as for product development, agency work or service contracts.

It only becomes visible at invoicing. If the two sides disagree then, the laborious reconstruction begins — and legal certainty is doubtful when the decisive message sits in a mailbox whose owner left the company long ago. That is the gap athemi closes.

  • One shared state instead of two mailboxes. Customer and supplier see the same thing — the question "what did we agree?" never arises.
  • The whole job, not just the quote. Variations, paperwork, correspondence and the invoice sort themselves to where they belong.
  • A signature that carries evidential weight. For most business agreements the simple electronic signature is enough — what makes it hold up is a documented proof of identity, a timestamp and an integrity-protected document.
  • Three Swiss legal frameworks, built in rather than bolted on. The ten-year retention duty under CO Art. 958f, the revised data protection act and ZertES shape how business is done in Switzerland — athemi is designed for them.
  • Connected, not a silo. Bidirectional synchronisation with eleven ERP systems — and usable without one.
  • Built for SMEs, not corporations. No IT department, no weeks of implementation; free to start, no contract lock-in.
  • Operated in Switzerland. Encrypted transfer, granular access rights, a complete audit log.

How MANOVIS supports athemi

athemi grew out of an observation by co-founder Stefan Mumenthaler, who as managing director of wireno AG missed a feature in his accounting software: Bexio let you view quotes directly, and his own system did not. MANOVIS didn't know the feature at all, but could see why it was useful.

Talking it through, it became clear that the feature was good but only half thought out. A job almost always involves more than the signed quote. Out of that came the actual idea: don't share a document, share the whole job — as a project room where both sides always have the same state.

MANOVIS has developed athemi alongside from that idea onwards, and continues to carry the company — in substance and financially.
